Grand Isle
Ahhh, The crown jewel of the Louisiana Gulf Coast. Grand Isle is a barrier island found where Hwy 1 ends and meets the Gulf. The island is 7 miles long with beaches running the full length. The island is highly inhabitated complete with a few restaurants and bars to keep you entertained off the water.
Kiting the Island
Access the beach at any point on the island via the plentiful public access points. Halfway down the Island (by Sureway Supermarket), There are rock jetty's placed intermittently off the beach which create fun waves and protected (flat) water to ride. Keep an eye out for beachgoers and steer clear of them completely. Also keep an eye out for crab lines and fishing lines casted out from the beach. Catching one at full rip hurts!
